Tom Cox, a 5th generation Kansan, small business owner, who was born and raised in Shawnee, KS. He is a product of Kansas public schools attending Rhein Benninghoven Elementary, Trailridge Middle School and Shawnee Mission Northwest Highschool. He received his Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Kansas.

Tom served two terms in the Kansas House. He decided to run for the House in 2016 after watching Kansas fall further into debt, stripping local government's ability to govern and putting Kansas's schools at risk with irresponsible fiscal policy. He was honored by his district to be elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2018.

During Tom's graduate and undergraduate career at KU he was active in student government, serving as a Student Senator for 6 years and on the University Student Rights Committee, including chairing the committee among many other boards and committees. He worked at the Dole Insitute of Politics coordinating student events and providing students the opportunities to listen to, meet and work with active elected officials, political operatives and journalists.

After graduating from KU in 2010 he moved back to Shawnee and joined a technology start-up in Westwood, KS. Managing their digital marketing he helped the company grow from 12 employees to over 40.

In 2012 he left to join a property management and commercial real estate company in San Diego, CA as its Vice-President of Marketing. In 2013 he moved back home to Shawnee and brought his job with him.

In 2017 he left his corporate job to start his own small business consulting firm. He helps small and local businesses find efficiencies in their operations and cost savings to help increase their bottom lines.
